Etta's Picks 9/27/2013

Alright all you classy motherfathers out there tuning in, I TOLD you I'd start posting Etta's Picks every week! I've decided that I'm still going to wait until I'm all moved and set up to start doing more regular OOTD's (merely because I want higher quality photos, not iPhone quality like my latest OOTD post), but never-the-less, I will at least have my favorite fashion finds of the week!
You miiiiight realize a little bit of a theme going on with this week's picks, as my life has been completely and utterly set ablaze by my love for all things southwestern inspired. Homegurl cannot get enough leather and fringe as I am SO sure you will be able to tell in about .6 seconds when you scroll down further. So without further ado, here are my picks for the week of 3/27/2013!

As I am SO sure you have noticed by now, the fashion world seems to have gone a little bonkers for all things kimono. And although I hate to sound like "that-girl", (I am soooo 'that girl' ;p) I was totally wearing these before they were cool! But at any rate, I love this cream colored asian/western mashup piece from Forever 21. Such an effortless layering piece and (HELLO) under $30.

Oh dear, how I adore this top. The flowy fit and muted base color are truly an homage to the effortless, laidback style of the 70's. I also love that they chose a bright and bold floral graphic as opposed to the expected dated florals when creating a "throwback piece". I picture this with a cute mini and some booties, or bellbottoms and wedges. Perfect fall piece.

O_O
Nearly all I have to say. Sexy. Timeless. Sophisticated. Edgy. Take your spin & roll with it. I LOVE it.

I love these guys! Perfect fall colors, perfect with a basic T or a baggy sweater, these are a wardrobe staple for this season.

.........................
I mean I literally can't even.
The closest I will ever become to Lana Del Rey (think 'Ride'), and quite frankly I am into that.

I love these leggings! A very easy take on the plaid fad this fall, and a staple for us "I wear leggings as pants and there is nothing you can do to stop me" gals.

Say whaaaa.. this skirt is beautiful! A gorgeous ornate staple for a sleek look, or a cool, attention grabbing piece for a fun street look, this skirt is just everything.

Father, forgive me for I have fringed. I know you guys, I'm sorry but I just can't get over how much I love fringe! And this skirt is absolutely no obsession. This oozes edgy boho babe, and I am totally into that.

Let's just be real here. Do I have ANY small sliver of an idea as to where I would wear this dress?
Not even slightly.
Does that do anything to drag me out of my daydreaming fantasies of of me strutting it in this dress and dropping jaws?
Not even slightly.

I mean seriously. They just keep reinventing these things! Gimmicky? Perhaps, but I'm still obsessed.

I may already have a white western embroidered button up top in my wardrobe... but you guys... this one is cropped...
That justifies buying this one too, right?

As fearful as I am of the thought of me in a turtleneck, this completely destroyed UNIF sweater is making a VERY strong argument towards me busting out of my comfort zone. I think I'm into it.

I mean... I'm just gonna be honest... I'm sure we can all guess why I enjoy this shirt. It starts with an 'F' and ends with a 'ringe'....
Nuff Said.

And last, but most certainly not least is this AMAZING (yes, you guessed it) fringe skirt. I hardly think it needs an explanation. Aside from explaining why I'm passed out from having my breath taken away by this piece. Into it.

So that is it dolls! I hope you enjoyed my favorite fashion pieces in this week's picks! Go have an amazing weekend!!

UPDATE! Where I've Been, What to Expect

UPDATE! Where I've Been, What to Expect

Hey all you darling boys & squirrels! You may have noticed that I have been slightly MIA as of late (and by slightly, I mean extremely, ridiculously, oops-I-promise-I'm-still-alive-ly MIA). I promise I have not lost my passion for fashion (did I just quote the old Bratz Doll slogan?) nor have I been kidnapped and held hostage- I have just had some craaaazy life changes!

First of all, I am in the process of moving, only to pick up and move again in three months. While I'm sure the prospect of moving twice in three months has made you stressed for me, the bright side is that in three months I will FINALLY be making the big move to Nashville. (Expect shameless self promotion when I finally put together a cohesive band and start following my rockstar dreams ;p) So naturally, with half of my belongings packed up and my life in utter disarray, it has been slightly difficult to keep on top of posting.

Also, I have taken the semester off from classes, gotten a job with an amazing company supporting local business, and have been delving into some local modeling (See Left, Credit: Nick Souza)... Although at 5'3", I think my modeling dreams will end with local photographers, sadly... ha!

Aaaaanyways, on to the good stuff: what you can expect coming up!
As with most ladies, my creativity has been reignited with the upcoming fall season! Getting dressed in the morning has become so much fun for me, and I feel so at one with my changing wardrobe (even though it's currently divided amongst several boxes). I have SO many ideas for outfits and cannot WAIT to start posting regular OOTD's. I also plan to do a review of sorts of the fall fashion shows, with highlights from designers and upcoming trends (although, please note, I do not advise adhering to trends, they are merely passing guidelines :p). And finally, expect way more frequent 'Etta's Picks'. The plan is to have a fashion one up weekly, with a monthly beauty post. However, while I'm still in the moving process it might be slightly irregular.

At any rate, I am VERY excited about the prospects of the future and I can't wait to share my excitement with all of you! I hope you all have an AMAZING day, and bask in every moment. Remember, tomorrow will worry itself ;)

Etta's Picks 3/25/2013

Etta's Picks 3/25/2013

Being the retrophile that I am, I am utterly, profusely in love with this simple polkadotted crop top. With high waisted black cigarette pants, distressed shorts, or a bodycon skirt, this top is perfectly girly.

I am so in love with these shorts. They take last summer's American Flag trend and crank it up a notch by adding grunge appeal.

These garter leggings just barely one-up the cotton stretch pair many already own.

It is absolutely impossible to express my obsession with these sandals. They are girly, edgy, and most importantly FUN. Can't wait to purchase these in gold AND silver!

Trippy graphic tee meets cute girly chiffon? Yes, please.

How Lana Del Rey of this piece. Obsessing over these retro hues and tropical graphics.

While I am slightly over the strapless tight mini's that were all the rage this time last year, there is something youthful and fun about this dress that differs it from the rest.

Obsessed. That is all.

Grungy, girly, comfortable and unique, this dress has all the makings of perfection.

Quirky and retro meets modern and girly. This splurge is beautiful.

This hot rod sweater is everything and more. It speaks to my soul in gaudy, quirky, retro fashion ;)

UNEARTHLY obsessed with this pajama set. So quirky and fun.

Last, but not least, is this disgustingly adorable floral play set. Please, designers around the world, hear my plea when I say the world NEEDS more playsets!!

So there you have it! My picks of the week, filled with fun retro prints and colors, and grungy-meets-girly spring pieces! Have a great rest of the week everyone! :)
